Kim Horwood

Kim Horwood is a Consulting Partner, Senior Associate Trainer and Executive Coach at Thrive. She is also founding Director of Odonata River Ltd and Co-Founder of View to the Future. 
 
Passionate about helping people to help themselves, Kim is a highly experienced Level 7 (Masters) Advanced Practitioner in Coaching and Mentoring; a CIPD-qualified trainer and facilitator, and a licensed Professional Medical Coach. Kim specialises in leadership development; creating personal impact, and supporting clients in career and life transitions underpinned by building confidence, resilience and wellbeing. Sensitively tailoring her approach to respond to individual client needs, Kim adopts a holistic and values-based approach to transformational change with individuals, leaders, teams and organisations.
 
Kim fundamentally believes that paying attention to our personal wellbeing is essential if we are to be successful in life: and to give this priority before we turn our attention towards helping or leading others. To support her clients further, in April 2018, Kim became a professionally licensed Medical Coach (only the seventh in the UK). Medical Coaching uniquely supports individuals to deal with their emotional states and feelingswhile facing a health-related challenge. Clearing the trauma of a current (acute or chronic) or historical medical crisis will help maintain ongoing emotional and mental resilience and liberate individuals to make quality, informed choices and move forward with their lives. 
 
Kim has been proud to be a consulting partner with Thrive training since 2016. Kim brings over 30 years’ experience in a range of professional, specialist and leadership roles. Before setting up her business in 2012, she worked in central and local government for over 25 years, most recently as a Senior Learning & Development Consultant delivering culture change programmes, leadership and management development programmes, executive coaching and soft skills training across Whitehall and the UK. 
 
Previous roles included founder member of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Knowledge and Change Management Unit in the early 90’s pioneering and embedding knowledge sharing good practice across the organisation (such as Communities of Practice and Yellow Pages systems). She was Head of Press & Publicity for the Monopolies & Mergers Commission (now Competition and Markets Authority), and she still holds the honour of being the youngest-ever Head of Public Music Library Services for a London Borough.
 
Kim is a Fellow of the Institute of Enterprise & Entrepreneurs, a Chartered Information Professional (MCLIP), and a Prince2 practitioner. She is MBTI and FiroB qualified. She is committed to her own continuous professional developmentand wellbeing. Kim’s work/life balance includes being a keen orchestral and folk-violinist, and when she is not sitting down she loves to walk in the countryside or by the sea, and to swim.
